Hindsight is 20/20

Do you ever see someone that you used to date or have a crush on on Facebook and think, “DODGED.A.BULLET!!!”  Whew!  Seriously, I just think that God really had His hand on my life even when I really thought that my life would be SOOO good with some particular guy.  Hindsight is usually 20/20, as they say.

I think about that with how we so wanted to move a year or more ago, and the choices we would have made were so different than the choices we have made today.  I think we dodged some more bullets in that arena.

Now we’re on a church search, and it’s so hard and frustrating, but I’m sure when we finally end up somewhere, we’ll look back and see God’s hand leading us.  Waiting is the hardest part.

  1. That's the hardest thing about a move I think. Leaving a church you absolutely love, and then trying to find another one. We haven't been very successful at that since we moved from Austin. Nothing ever felt just right like our church did. I pray that God will guide you and make your search a quick and easy one!

  3. I read your blog, but have never commented before : ) Not sure where you ended up moving, but at one time I thought you said the Grapevine-Colleyville area? You should visit 121 Community Church in Grapevine. Awesome pastor and a wonderful church family!

  4. We actually did try them out, and while we really loved the children's ministry, the rest of the church wasn't really for us. We're still looking. :-/

  5. To me nothing is harder than trying to find a church home for you and your family. While we were still in TX we attended Cross Roads in Grand Prairie and LOVED IT!!! There really was not much about the church that my family did not enjoy, from the classes to the children's area and everything in between :)
But, since we moved here to Fort Polk, La ( read Army moved us here not our choice:0)) almost 2.5 yrs ago we have yet to find a church that feeds everyone in the family.( Which is odd since we live in a city that is in the GB of World Records for most churches per capita.) Either I liked the church and my family did not or the kids liked it and Andy and I did not. So we stopped searching and are being 'still' for the moment. Realizing that we are not in control and that God is.
My prayers to you and your family in hopes that you will have an easier time finding a church home that will feed your family a little easier than house hunting went :)

    1. Wow! I believe it, though. It's kind of funny because I feel like since there are so many churches, we can afford to be a little more picky, but also that means that each one has a very distinct flavor because everyone of the same mindset flocks to the same church. But if there were fewer churches there might be a more well-rounded church. Just a theory...idk.

  6. Hey Annie! I was just checking out your blog and love it! I don't know how far it would be for you but I LOVE my church. Gateway. I go to the NRH campus but the big one is in Southlake. :)

    1. I'm flattered that you read my blog, Katie! Thanks! And thanks for the recommendation. My husband wanted to visit that church, too, so we might just do that. Thanks!

  7. You started your post about running into an old boyfriend and thinking how you dodged a bullet. So this is totally off of what your overall post was about but wanted to share it anyway. A couple of months ago a guy I dated in high school friended me. I thought it was a little weird, but whatever, friend accepted. So I start seeing these posts of his, "Join us tonight at Renegades bar where we'll be playing, come have a drink, yada yada." So after several of these generalized invite posts to come hear his band, I wondered what he really did to earn a living, come on we're in our thirties, you must have a real job. Turns out he listed his employment on fb as self-employed musician. Yikes. I think I dodged a bullet there. Now, don't take offense because you and Michael are both musicians, but seriously, your not trying to support your family on it.
