Wet Paint

I'm attempting to update my blog design, so if you see some funny stuff, you'll know why.  I'll tell ya when I'm finished.  ;)

ETA: Okay, well, I just went ahead and changed my privacy so that no one could see while I edited my blog.  A couple of people asked what the deal was, so I hope I didn't scare anyone away!

Anyway, I'm never really confident about big changes like this for my blog, but I think I like it.  I know you probably wouldn't tell me if you didn't like it, but if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Is it easy to look at?  Visually appealing?  Easy to read?  Hard to read?  Did you like the old layout and design better?  Do you read in Google Reader anyway, so it doesn't matter?

ETA: Okay, so I changed it again.  I can't decide on a permanent look, so I decided to go for a Christmas look for now.  Alright, I'm going to bed now.  :-/

ETA:  Of course, I changed it about 50 more times after I wrote the last line.  No more Christmas because I didn't want to have to go through this again for a long, long time.  It is now way past my bedtime.

  1. I like your pictures :-) And I like the header icons and layout. Any text that happens over the blue squiggly lines is hard to read. I don't know if it would be different in Google Reader. I'm happy for the change; fun times!

Be careful what you ask for...LOL

This is just my opinion on blogs in general:

What is are the two biggest and most popular internet sites? and facebook.
What do they have in common?....simplicity

I personally prefer simplistic layout where the main information (the blog article for example) doesn't have to compete with links and so forth off to the sides. Some blogs run the risk of putting the reader through sensory overload and subsequently don't hold their attention long enough and therefore lose a potential reader.

I realize that a blog is a creative expression and many people appreciate a design flair with color...but sometimes less is more. (IMO)

This is my OPINION on this blog:
If it were me, (IMO!) I'd get a back ground that had color but was more solid and visually smooth. I'd move all the links to one side and not the two columns on either side of the main posts.

I like the heading color...reminds me of your dining room but the text color in the body is yellow. I'd either put yellow in the heading with the red or make the text color red to match the heading. The two don't seem to go together when you have red on top and yellow in the body.
    (that sounded perverted somehow...)

I LOVE the picture of you and the boys.

I love your blog title and your subtitle.

I LOVE your tabs horizontal across the top (probably the best upgrade and the most user friendly)

Truth be told if you didn't change a thing I'd still read it because I enjoy the content.

    just my opinion! :-)

  3. I really do appreciate your feedback! I sort of agree about the simplicity thing; I prefer that, too, to be honest. But the "norm" amongst all of the "mom" or "craft" blogs is to have them super busy. I kind of felt like I should go with my gut and keep it more simple. I think you may have just convinced me of that. So thanks! I'll go back to the drawing board but not tonight because I'm beat. :-/ Thanks for the input!

I'm so easily pursuaded - haha. After Courtney's comment, I totally changed everything, and now after John's I'm going to do the same. Talk about a pushover!

I love to hear from you!
